Jean-Luc Hofmann - CEO and Quality Manager

Jean-Luc Hofmann is a versatile and results-oriented professional with an extensive background in technical translation, information technology and linguistics. He has considerable expertise in various areas, including translation memories, software and translation.

Prior to founding Lucyol, he has spent his career working on both the client and vendor sides of the business, beginning as a freelance translator. He held several positions in leading localization companies, including Opéra Traduction and Linguatech, two French translation agencies which were acquired by Bowne Global Solutions in 1998. He also successfully carried out various on-site missions (including at Microsoft) for leading companies such as Lionbridge Technologies. He is one of only a few people in the localization industry to have occupied almost all production-related positions (translator, editor, technical reviewer, project manager, consultant, etc.), and to continue playing an important role in production.

Prior to his career in the localization industry, Jean-Luc held a number of management positions (regional manager, vice-president) in a renowned adult education organization, where he also taught IT and language courses, as well as various functions in leading information technology companies (developer for Matra Espace, developer at IBM's Research and Development Center of La Gaude, hardware maintenance and testing technician in various IT companies including IBM France).

Mainly educated in France (+ 5 years in Dutch-speaking Belgium), Jean-Luc holds a master's degree in computer science from Paris XI University and a post-graduate engineering diploma in information technology, electronics and telecommunications from INSA Lyon (Institut National des Sciences Appliquées).

In addition to his role as CEO of Lucyol, he is responsible for establishing and maintaining Lucyol's high technical and linguistic standards and for ensuring compliance with our demanding customers' own quality standards. He is also in charge of selecting and testing the new resources, based on the rigorous selection scheme he has set up.

Yolande Jiménez López - Production and DTP Manager

Yolande Jiménez López is a highly skilled professional with vast experience in the areas of typography, layout and graphic arts on both PC and Mac platforms, in various European languages and on multiple software.

Prior to her involvement with Lucyol, where she brought extensive management and technical experience, Yolande founded and managed a company offering specialized DTP services to the localization industry. From 1992 to 1994, she held various management and technical positions with a number of companies, including Theramex, a leading pharmaceutical company, acquired in 1999 by the Merck group. There she worked as DTP manager of the documentation department, and was also in charge of IT training of the new staff members.

A native French and Spanish speaker, she also held a project management position in a Madrid-based translation agency.

At Lucyol, Yolande is in charge of DTP quality assurance, as well as internal and external resource management. She has worked as a DTP expert on projects for customers such as Oracle, Dell and Sun Microsystems, as well as most of the largest international globalization providers. She has also served in other roles, including project manager and account manager.

Educated both in France and Spain, Yolande holds a degree in Spanish and English linguistics and culture from the Paris IV University (La Sorbonne).
