About Us
Lucyol is one of France's leading IT-specialized translation and localization companies. Although we work with a few selected in-country partners, we focus primarily on adapting highly technical contents and products to the needs of the French market.
Our core competence is localization, in almost all areas of the IT industry—such as security, databases, operating systems, programming, networking, client/server, data warehousing, etc. We provide solutions and specialized professionals for all your IT localization needs: user documentation, software, online help, Web contents, eLearning, etc. However, don't look to us for translation in fields other than IT and Telecom. We are growing by focusing on what we know best: for us, unlike many of our competitors, IT is not just one field among many others. It's our business.
Lucyol is a management-owned, fast growing and consistently profitable company, founded in 1996 to meet the increasing demand for high quality, IT-specialized translation and localization services. We provide quality-driven translation services to demanding corporate customers worldwide. Over 95% of our customers return to us and many of them use Lucyol as a preferred partner.
Lucyol at a glance
- 63% average annual growth rate (over the last 3 years)
- 96% customer retention rate
- Industry-recognized expertise in all IT and Telecom areas
- Excellent reputation (both among customers and partners)

The company name "Lucyol" is derived from the first names of the two founders
(Jean-Luc Hofmann and Yolande Jiménez López); additionally, "luciole" is the French word for "firefly" (or lightning bug), a small Mediterranean insect which emits a bright flash about once a second. The name was chosen both because we are established in the Mediterranean region and to reflect the fact that Lucyol was the first truly IT-specialized localization services provider in France, committed to working exclusively with professionals who genuinely understand what they are translating.
