All Number Ones...
When browsing the Web searching for a localization provider, you will come across an incredible number of vendors claiming to be "the world's largest localization provider". All of them are number 1 in the localization business.
Not only is this argument ridiculous (how could so many vendors be "the largest one"?), but it is generally associated with many other misleading arguments: they have over 1,000 (sometimes 5,000) translators working for them, in over 100 languages, and of course they offer top quality in every language and every imaginable field. This is totally unrealistic.
But why do they put such false arguments forward? Simply because they need to. Many providers cannot advance any real arguments, except that they are number one, that they work in all languages, that they specialize in all fields, etc.
Such providers are not being honest with their customers, because their arguments are misleading. By definition, it is not possible to specialize in all fields and all languages. Unfortunately, this phenomenon is not restricted to SLVs and smaller MLVs. Many of the largest international globalization providers are also concerned.
At Lucyol, we do not believe in making false claims, because we value our relationships with our customers. Our customer-focused team's goal is to build trust with our customers and to retain them for the right reasons. And our best argument is that our translators genuinely understand what they are translating. None of our competitors dare to put this argument forward. We do, because it's true.
The key to our success is clearly our specialization, both in terms of fields (exclusively IT and Telecom) and languages (French being our main target language).
At Lucyol, we claim to offer high quality in a single field, and mainly in one language. In addition, we do not claim to have a database with "thousands of translators". Our translator selection process is probably the most draconian in the localization industry, and it allows us to assign the most competent, most specialized resources available in each particular subfield of IT and Telecom to our customers' projects. Few localization vendors put as much effort as we do into this process, which is necessary because our customers entrust us with their most technical and sensitive translation projects. Our translators are chosen because they actually understand what they are translating - and that's the main difference.
Before entrusting your most technical, sensitive and quality-critical projects to one of these "number ones", try asking yourself the following three simple questions:
- Are they really specialized? Lucyol is. IT is our business.
- Are they really competent in over 100 languages? Probably not. We specialize in French.
- Do they implement real and efficient Quality Assurance processes? We do, and not just on a sample of your files. Individual quality responsibility is the cornerstone of our QA process.
