Besides our in-house developed productivity tools, we also use state-of-the-art industry-standard technology to ensure quality, improve consistency and reduce costs and turnaround time.
Translation memories (TM), also called Computer-Aided Translation (CAT), are indisputably the most widely used and the most effective translation technology. Among the existing translation memory solutions, we have selected Trados® as being the most efficient and customer-friendly tool. We recommend the use of this tool for various reasons (the most important one being cost-efficiency for our customers), but we also use - and are willing to use - any other tool you may choose or already use.
Lucyol uses translation memories wherever possible to leverage previously translated text, improve consistency, increase quality, and reduce costs and turnaround time. Because all TM management activities are performed by our team, customers can enjoy the many benefits of these tools without having to purchase them.
CAT software are powerful tools which allow reducing translation costs and turnaround significantly when documents are highly repetitive (within one document, and between various documents). Consequently, they are particularly well suited to technical translation, where text is often highly repetitive and terminological consistency is essential (this is especially true when it comes to software, website or documentation updates). Please note that CAT has nothing to do with automatic translation. Translation memories are databases in which the source segments and the corresponding target segments are stored during the translation. These segments are then automatically suggested to the translator according to the degree of similarity found in the memory.
Besides reducing costs and turnaround significantly, the main advantages of TMs are quality and consistency, both within the translated text and with existing translations.
